IAKS UK seminar in Portsmouth, UK on 15 June 2023

The BREEAM-Outstanding Ravelin sports facility was the venue for the IAKS UK conference in Portsmouth on June 15, 2023. Located on the university campus, the event focused on the low-carbon and low-energy design and development of sports and leisure facilities.

IAKS UK seminar „Balancing the needs of community, elite and university facilities“ in Edinburgh, 17-18 April

More than 80 delegates and panellists converged in Edinburgh to hear and discuss the design, performance and operation of sports and leisure facilities to meet the demands of both elite sport and community use. Comprehensive facility tours at Meadowbank Sports Centre and Oriam - Scotland’s National Performance Centre for Sport – highlighted this unique learning and networking event organized by IAKS UK.

First IAKS UK & Ireland seminar 'Active Places' in Dublin, Ireland on 2-3 October

More than 120 architects, engineers, operators, consultants, local authorities and universities from across Ireland and the UK, along with European colleagues, gathered in Dublin to share experiences and expertise on creating sustainable futures for the sport and leisure industry. The first IAKS UK and Ireland event to take place in the country dealt with a host of issues around this challenging topic in a fascinating two-day seminar and study tour.

IAKS UK & Ireland conference and facility tours in Cardiff, 10-11 April 2025

Over 100 attendees at ‘Active Wellbeing in Communities’ were confronted with the stark health and physical activity issues in this part of the UK, along with inventive ways that challenges like these are being tackled both here and overseas. The two-day event at the Principality Stadium in the heart of the Welsh capital looked at how sports and leisure facilities can better serve communities. It was built around how a unique piece of Welsh legislation is influencing health and leisure, and how learnings from this can be applied in other countries.

IAKS UK & Ireland Facility Tour, 1 October 2025

A full house of architects, designers, operators, engineers and consultants toured four of Lee Valley Regional Park Authority’s acclaimed sports and leisure venues to find out how the Authority successfully blends community activation, major events and commercial approaches.
